I have (for example) an image (single) which I find easier to work with in Photomatix (the tone mapping helps short cut the layers needed for contrast control) but I don't get the nice features (of even my old version of) ACR which can help to fix chromatic aberration on my wide lens.

Is there a way that I can fix the aberrations in the processing flow?

You will have to process the RAW file first. Once converted to a TIF file in Photomatix your options in ACR are limited for processing TIF files.

ok ... that's what I thought. I have already tried that (didn't cost much ;-) and definately the Photomatix options on the TIFF were no as hot. I got close by
processing the RAW first to a jpg (set aside)
processing RAW in ACR
processing that tiff in Photomatix
taking that again into Photoshop and doing a match colour based on the jpg produced in step 1

which isn't quite as snappy as the RAW processed in Photomatix but at least it clears up the chromatic abb (which is exaggerated in the tone mapping)

Nice shot! You can achieve the same look with a single file by processing in ACR and finishing up in PS using the Highlight/Shadow tool.
