been trawling the net for pictorico ohp in the uk but don't seem to get anywhere. Anyone know of a source or any comments on the Kentmere or Permajet varities?

Perhaps you can find Agfa Copyjet in the UK? For all I know, it is equivalent to Pictorico OHP.

I don't know about the Kentmere or Permajet products, but I've used Chromaline's AccuArt2 successfully as a replacement for Pictorico OHP. I have only used the 17" wide rolls, so I don't know what the sheets are like, but the roll product is virtually identical to Pictorico. It's made in the USA, but they do have a UK distributor. Be careful though, there are various AccuArt products, including AccuArt3 (which seems to be a recent addition to the line), but the one I tried was AccuArt2.

I notice that the big differences between the AccuArt2 and 3 are that version 3 works well for the K3 inks in an Epson and that the dMax/dMin are different. I was using AccuArt2 with an Epson 4000 and Ultrachrome inks.

I'll follow this one up. Stunning images on the website! Where in Kent were you? Sunny Ramsgate myself but also stayed for a while in Cheltenham so liked the stuff from Cirencester and Hidcote!

Hi Carl, Silverprint sells Pictorico OHPs, and Firstcall Photographic the Kentmere ones. I've mostly been using the latter, because I'm a cheapskate, and the results are pretty good (the diginegs I made for the workshop were all on Kentmere).

When I contacted Silverprint I was told Pictorico was no longer available. I'll give them a call tomorrow and see if I get a different response. Do I remember there being some pooling of ink problems with the stuff you had or this just old age :)

Ack! It seems to have vanished from their site, too. Damn.

Pooling? Nope. Smearing because I was a little hasty on poking at it to see if it was dry, yes. The Kentmere is the odd translucent one that I was using for most of my negs, and it seems to work fine. Just as well, seeing that we can't get Pictorico any more.

Yes, that's right. I couldn't obtain 17" roll OHP for a while and the claims were that this was manufactured to the same specs. I found it to print exactly the same, both with the Epson and in platinum. The only difference I noticed, and remember, I only used the roll material not sheets, was that it had slightly more static than the Pictorico. But I never experienced any problems with dust or spots because of it.

I haven't used either the AccuArt3 or the new Pictorico so I don't know how they compare. I ordered enough of the old OHP to keep me going for quite a while just as they announced the new product...oh well.

Spoke to Silverprint today and was that Pictorico OHP is not being imported into the country at this time hence the reason they are not supplying it. Did't have time to get an alternative ordered but will do over the weekend!

I gave a couple of sheets of Copyjet to Fabiano Busdraghi from Italy who had the same problem as you: he had been using Pictorico but couldn't get it anymore in Europe. He afterwards told me that both materials were very similar, aside of the fact that Copyjet was cheaper in Europe.

I have never used Pictorico, so I can't compare. But I use Copyjet with good results.

I think I was the one who reported (http://www.usask.ca/lists/alt-photo-process/2003/apr03/0318.htm) the first time about copyjet on the alt. photo list.
CopyJet is indeed very similar to pictorico but not the same. And easy to obtain in Europe.

But I have found more high density inkjet films recently, all with the somewhat 'milky' base as pictorico and copyjet. Here are some new ones:

I obtained two 13x19 sheets of this HD inkJet film 180G through a NL dealer (www.qualitygraphics.nl (http://www.qualitygraphics.nl)) and also got in contact with Perfect Proof Sales department who were very responsive and kindly answered many of my questions.

I tried the samples and got very good results. Overall density is higher than Agfa CopyJet and at least the same as Pictorico. The coating is very smooth and there is no ink smearing. I have to do more testing with these samples but it looks definitely better then CopyJet for my use.
Good point might also be the availability as the company is BE and US based. Minimum size for sheets is 13x19 (A3+) and they have rolls from 43 cm and up. Prices are in the same range as other brands. A box of 100 sheets 13x19 costs 208 euro and a 43cm x 30m roll is 129 euro.

Tepede is a Dutch company with representations in nine EU countries.
These HD Clearfilm samples were allready pre-printed so I could not test them very well. But I printed a stepwedge on the unprinted sides, that looks promising. Very pictorico-ish :) . I will try to get in contact with Tepede again for samples and product information. I don't know if Tepede has it's own coating facility and I have no clues about were and by whom this material is produced.

This RIP software maker also sells a film, called screenfilm and is offering free sample rolls of it. I mentioned this on the alt. photo list in October but I never received the sample roll and I am wondering if anybody else did receive it. If I have something to test I'll report about it.

Big question about all this rather similar materials: were do they come from? At least we know there are two firms coating ceramic or similar coatings themselves if I am correct. Pictorico (base made in Japan and coated in the US) and Agfa (made in Belgium says the box) We allready know that Pictorico is also coating for Chromaline (Accuart2) but what about the others?

-Inkjet printing paper “Pictorico”: Penetrate color proof market and commence sales through mass merchandisers and internet in addition to OEM sales."

This might explain the recent boom in products in the colorproof market? Tell me if I'm wrong.

Yes, it was you indeed, Kees. A very nice material and cheaper than Pictorico. I'm not terribly worried about getting top D-max because I work mainly with gum dichromate, which has anyway a restricted latitude, and density has to be added with several coats.

But in the near future I want to get started (again) with carbon. By then, my box of 100 A3 Copyjet sheets will be empty, so I'm ready to try something else. Copyjet has the benefit that it is _very_ easy to find here in Spain. But, as I said before, I have never used Pictorico.

As to Colorgate, after reading your report I also asked for a sample. Never received it.
