I'm realizing lately that I've uploaded a number of images as attachments on posts that are taking up space in my upload allocation though they're lost in back threads and are hard to find if I want to refer to them again, and now I'm kind of wishing I'd put them in the gallery instead of in a thread. Is there any way to show some of these on my gallery page as well as in the forum threads, the same way that on my own website, I show the same jpeg on several different pages to illustrate different points?
Thanks, Katharine

Katharine,
If you were to have uploaded them to your gallery first and then inserted the gallery link in your posts you would have achieved the same thing as your web site. having the images as attachments is not similar to normal web protocols and is not easily referenced by other posts and not at all useable in the gallery.

Sorry, I know that doesn't help.

Whenever I make a post with an image, I always just link to the image I have on my website. That keeps control of it with me & there's one place for me to locate all my posted images. With all the forum software I've encountered I just have to feed it the URL of the image & the forum displays it fine.

I guess I learned that the hard way. It just seemed so handy to have the image right there beside the text to make the point, rather than sending people somewhere else to look at it.

So if I wanted some of these in my hybridphoto gallery, I take it I'd have to upload them again, doubling the space that one image takes out of my quota for uploaded images?

Is there any way to remove those images from the threads at this point and simply insert a link to the gallery or to my website?

Nope one upload many uses...

all you have to do is select the picture icon (second in from the right when composing a message)
type or past the url of the image not the pageinto the dialog box that pops up. Be sure that the url is for the image (it will generally end in .jpg or .gif) and not the page (which will generally end in html, or php).
and bob's your uncle

Here is an image in the gallery, linked as described above:
