On first glance I'm not sure that the name in itself tells you much about the forum, but if the word Digital was in the name then I guess it could put off people who use both film and digital (in whatever way).
I think the name tells what's important about the forum, but perhaps in a rather subtle way. A hybrid, my dictionary tells me, is a thing made by combining two different elements or species or varieties. Hybridphoto is an "international community of photographers that combine digital imaging and traditional photographic processes." It was started, I understand, to separate APUG users working in all analog methods from those combining analog and digital methods. If the word Digital was in the name, then people would be even more likely to assume that the site is about digital photography. But it's not; it's about hybrid photography.
