I am taking my Epson 7600 out of service with the plan of selling it and need to know the full draining procedure. I cannot find this anywhere online. Does anyone know of a menu setting that helps me do this? Any help greatly appreciated.

There is no "full draining procedure" for an Epson. Once you get them wet, they're designed to stay that way. You can't really get the heads, dampers, and lines clean enough to not cake up.

My normal way of mothballing a big Epson is to get a chip resetter, an old set of 110ml carts, fill the bladders in the carts with Windex (3 pumps of a 30ml syringe), reset the chips, then print until all nozzles are running clear. Then leave the machine sit with the Windex carts in until she's needed again.

How much for your 7600, and where is she?

Thanks Wiz!

I actually have a gallon of purge fluid that I will use.

My 7600 is in Dearborn, Michigan.. very close to you. Have an interest? If you do, or know someone who does, let me know. She's a good beast and only has a print count of 1649.

I keep hearing about "chip resetters", what are these and where do you get them?

You can get them at a lot of the thrid party ink dealers. Try www.inksupply.com (http://www.inksupply.com) for one.

Thanks Bill, I used a yellow from my 9600 in a 4800 to do a purge cycle and because I didn't have enough 4800 yellow ink now the yellow won't be accepted back to the 9600. Hope this works. Hate to throw the ink cartridge away since it's a new 220 ml.
