Hi, being a bit to keen to find information about alternative printing techniques, I zapped this bit. A bit rude not to have introduced myself.

I am a photographer based in the south west of France not that far from Spain. I have recently gone back to my roots after over a decade working on screen. I have found this site extremely informative and I am very impressed by the collective knowledge you have. I studied and later taught Fine Art up until the end of the 80's. Been freelance ever since. I have two websites, one for my personal work, the other is job related

kind regards and thanks for all the information and help

Ian

Hello Ian,
I had a look on your personal site, nice work!
Your 'Making-Of' video about gum printing is fantastic, well done!

Thanks Sidney, I am a bit of a novice, first film I made. Really wanted to show how time passes with the process.

All the best

Welcome Ian to Hybridphoto. Wonderful video production. Looks like you have a lot of knowledge to share. Thanks again for that excellent production.

Thanks Don,

My technical knowledge is limited but whenever I think i can help I will. The main reason I made the film was to illustrate that the gum prints were not the result of some photoshop filter. It's easy to forget that most people only see the screen image which does not come close to the look and feel of the original.

All the best

Bonjour Ians,

Vos gommes sont bien belles et très fines. C'est assez rare de voir de belles gommes. Je suis de l'Alsace et je pratique également ce procédé.

Merci Pierre,

Désolé mais je suis mieux en anglais, I often use six or seven layers and at least three negatives to build up the image. I must admit I have lost a few all the same! Where can I see your work?

Ians,

The multilayer explains the quality of your work. I also practice like you. However I use only one negative probably wrong. I do not have a website where you can see my pictures. I send you a scan on your private mail.
To be continued

Hi Alan,
Thank you for your comments. It is very kind of you. I am a relatively new member myself and have already acquired a lot of technical information. There is a huge amount of experience and knowledge here. Have a 'guid new year' Ian
