Hi folks,
Over the next day or so I'll be making some changes to the site. I'll be making the changes to the live site, so you may see some strange things, but (fingers crossed) the site should continue to work properly
Cheers,
jdc

Ok the first thing I did was add a set of google adsense ads at the bottom of the page. The idea is that we will eventually need to pay for this site and we want to avoid charging a membership fee.
Not surprisingly the initial ads are pushing hybrid cars. We'll see if the google logic will eventually figure out that this is a photo website..

J D,
Would you eventaully consider a subscription fee?

Tom,
The hope is to keep the site free. If it comes to the point where we are not covering our costs we will probably charge a subscription fee. Currently our overhead is low, as we grow the hope is that sponsorship/ad money will grow accordingly. Our over all plan will not be very intrusive. At least that is what we think and we're sure the members will let us know. We need to get this version of the site ready for growth (article section, classifieds, resource pages such as industry, artist, and service directories), looking professional (although I think it is pretty close) and all the rough edges smoothed.

well the ads aren't too bad at the current rate we will cover start up costs in a little over 18 months ;p. I'm really close to uploading some cosmetic changes. After that I'll do some structural changes and awaite feedback.

Thanks it will look better when I'm done. I don't have a development area or a staging area so I’m learning as I go in front of god and the membership. By the end of the weekend (if not sooner) it will be done.
Thank you to all for your indulgence.
It looks good to me so far.

Very cool, but you could have warned a girl. I blinked, looked down at my first cup of morning coffee and thought I'd pulled out the decaf by mistake. The second blink brought it into hybridish focus. What alot of work. Good job.

Wowser the menu system on this app is a real PITA. I may make a few more changes and call it a night. Shortly, I'll add pages to the links that haven't any and clean up some of the graphics. At that point I'd like some feedback...
So far I love it, awesome work!

Hi jd,
You've done such a great job and everything is looking so sharp I'm reluctant to add so much as a sneeze, but I do have one request: Could you darken a bit the line that includes "new posts", "today's posts", etc? I have quite a bit of trouble making them out.
Thank you very much for providing this forum. d

dwross,
I fixed the font on the menu and added the 'links (http://www.hybridphoto.com/forums/local_links.php)' page....

Tom,
This is the design the members get to throw darts at. We'll wind up living with this look and arrangemnt untill we have a viable alternative or direction. My hope is that the look and function will be liked and require only some tweaking, but I will bend to the desires of the membership.
