Hi I'm planning to purchase an Epson 3885 printer to convert my 6x7 and 4x5 negatives to enlarged 8x10 digital negatives. Has anybody had a good experience with this printer with respect to printing transparencies?

I have to check if there is Epson 3885 model available, i know thee is 3880 model which is newer or update of my printer Epson 3800 which is still amazing nice one, but if you mean there is a model of 3885 same as 3800/3880 then this will be definitely a nice printer for any photo. at any size up to 17x22

Hi,
Thanks for your reply - Will this print a transparency? The 3885 is the upgraded printer of 3880.

WOW, that is so fast, i still remember that 3880 is not that long time ago was produced, why they are so rush to produce newer one? but anyway, if it is new then you have to wait as not many people got this printer widely yet, but if it is an upgrade from Epson Stylus 3880 which is again an upgrade from Epson 3800 then i will HIGHLY recommend it, i am so happy with my Epson 3800 and i even never look to upgrade it to 3880 or 3885, i will upgrade it only to 24" or 44".

"The Epson Stylus Pro 3880 will ship in mid October in the US. In Asia, the Stylus Pro 3880 will be renamed Stylus Pro 3885, and is expected to launch end November."

As to the original question, I haven't tried digital negatives on the 3880, but I have seen very good results from the 3800 on non glossy papers. I would expect the same or better from the new model. My opinion is inkjet negatives give very good results on rag type papers, but for glossy silver gelatine I haven't been as excited.

I've got the 3880; bought specifically for digital negs. Superb.

What's your digi-neg methodology?
