Sean, you realize that with the current site, you have effectively killed any possibility to have a digital vs. film argument because you're stuck with using both.... smart move, and no more flame wars!
I certainly hope that is not the case. In my opinion there are valid reasons for either digital or film capture depending on the circumstances and a healthy discussions of pros and cons should contribute significantly to a fuller understanding of these issues. On APUG such discussions are not possible but IMO they should be welcomed here, so long a they remain civil, since within the hybrid concept we are free to choose either digital or analog at any stage of the process.

I just want to add my voice to that of others in expressing appreciation for the creation of this forum. Given the dynamic nature of what is going on at this time in terms of hybrid techniques, this forum should be a very useful contribution. And the initial interest, as seen in the number of threads and responses, is very encouraging.
Hopefully we will concentrate here on the creative side of marrying new and old technologies rather than creating new rules and roadblocks to creativity and the exchange of information. In fact, I suggest that we just take all the rules that limit what we can talk about, excepting the rule of civility, lock them up in a box and bury them under about ten feet of cement.

A GREAT site, especially for us that stay with film capture for black and white, but prefer to use the rapidly improving digital printing for output. This site reinforces the decisions that each step in the imaging process can result in individual choices that end up with a final result that satisfies our aims.

May I echo the sentiments posted so far. As an APUG subscriber I have enjoyed that forum, but have often felt constrained in mentioning digital due to the undoubted sensitivity of other members.
My workflow is either digital capture/enhance/inkjet print; or, hybrid - film capture/scan/enhance/inkjet print.
I am a multi-format, multi-media photographer and I hope this forum is where all aspects of imaging can be discussed without causing or taking offense.
Sean many thanks for the opportunity.
Kind regards
Ken

Sandy states my thoughts as well. I am hopeful that there will be no need for rules beyond the focus of this site which is to "concentrate here on the creative side of marrying new and old technologies."
Although, I suspect that there will be more than a little concentration on the technical side of "marrying new and old technologies."
I certainly hope that is not the case. My tongue-in-cheek point was that this could be the place to have an intelligent discussion on the best uses for digi and analog, rather than foaming mouth ravings on which one is essentially better. That's what I meant: not that d vs. a discussions are dead, but that flame wars on this topic are (hopefully!) a thing of the past here.

There are of course other sites on the web that have a fusion of traditional and digital photographers and techniques. Unfortunately, on several of them I have seen the "but totally digital is better" argument take over a thread. This site and its intent is a great concept that perhaps we can gain the moderate ground and add to the greater body of knowledge through information exchange and creation.
Onward and upward!

Was registered at APUG for a long while but felt a bit estranged. I use film for capture but have not had access to a darkroom for some time. Thus a scanner and the computer have replaced the wet chemistry. I am very happy to see this site come to life and am sure it will thrive.
