I had my 5DmkII on the tripod pointed out the window the other day to photograph a nice sunset over the Manhattan skyline, and I've added one of those Graflex-style pop up hoods to the back, because I'm always smudging the LCD screen with my cheek when I look through the finder, and the hood of course is handy for shading the screen. So my wife was looking at the live image with a confused expression and said, "Oh, it's not upside down!"

yes, I'm left eye dominant and left handed, so its nose smudge for me ... and I've frozen up the switches with breath and stuff in -15C too

That's hilarious, thanks for sharing this beautiful remark and moment! :)

Why is it that after decades of view cameras, I still compose on the view screen and not use the viewfinder? Is this proof positive that I am a creature of habit?

The main criteria for my digicam purchase was the need for an articulating focusing screen. My next camera will be able to have the viewing screen articulate for both horizontal and vertical compositions.

Don't old habits die hard?

Only if you use that articulating screen on your DSLR with a darkcloth over your head :p;)

Well, I'm halfway there with my Graflex-style pop-up hood. I wonder how many people recognize it as that--

I compose on the LCD screen when I can because it's more accurate. It shows 100% of the frame and at 10X, I can confirm focus, and use gridlines if I want.

Netherlands, hunh? I don't think so. I think you have been following me around for at least two years. :D
