I have a Minolta Scan Multi scanner (not the II or Pro) that I have used for years for all my 6x6 negatives. Last night the software locked up and I had to do a force quit on my mac. When I tried to reopen the Dimage software, I got the following message: "Unknown error. Confirm all other Dimage scan software is closed." I don't have any Dimage software open, at least to my knowledge. Has anyone gotten this message? And, most importantly, how do I get it back to normal? Thanks in advance.

Alan,

Have you tried to restart the computer?

Look to Vuescan (http://www.hamrick.com/) too, it works for many scanners (including yours) and works both under Windows and OS X. Same user interface / features (except for scanner specific features) and capability for all of your scanners / operating systems... One professional license will give you the opportunity of upgrading forever; I purchased my license in 2003 and I'm on the latest version right now.

Regards,
Loris.

I have tried to restart the computer as well as the scanner. I'm using a ratoc firewire connection so the scanner has to be on for the computer to recognize it, as I'm sure you already know. I've tried every permutation I can think of, but somehow it thinks I have some Dimage application open.

Last night I downloaded the Vuescan trial. I had tried it a number of years ago, but let it lapse. If I buy it, I'm get the Pro version. However, I had a strange glitch with the Vuescan trial. It worked great for 35mm, but I, for the life of me, could not get it to scan a full 6x6 negative. It would only scan the center part of the negative from top to bottom of the 6x6; it was similar to the size of a 35mm negative in width but the 6cm in length. I must be doing something wrong but can't figure this out either. Took and Advil. Thanks for the advice. If you, or others, have any other suggestions, I would love to hear them.

Alan

Have you checked whether you have a 'MFSButtonCheck' file sitting on your system ? If you have, delete it,and restart the software.

When I had this sort of failure with my 5400 scanner,it generated this file and prevented the software from starting. Deletion of this file cured the problem - the file did not reappear.

I searched the computer for MFSButtonCheck and found nothing. Thanks for the help though.

The only other suggestion I have is that you re-install the software. The last known drivers are still available on http://ca.konicaminolta.com/support/americas/scanners/dimage-scanners/index.html
