I'm again receiving spurious looking PMs, now from someone called RobertWilliams.

Yep, I'm getting them too. What a bunch of losers.

I get them constantly. I rarely come around here anymore. If they can't keep the Spammers out...

Hi guys, I found a single ip address responsible for most of the spam so have blocked it at the firewall. We have about as much anti-spam registration options as possible so these are 'real people' not robots. Pretty lame huh? I will make some settings so that an account needs 10 posts before it can PM people. If you catch anymore let me know and I'll nuke them! Thanks!

I guess the problem seems to be that while you can remove all postings of an offending user, you can't kick their PMs. Is that correct? I got two PM from that spammer in my inbox. What's weird, though is, that RobertWilliams (http://www.hybridphoto.com/forums/member.php?u=2952) is still not banned from this forum, at least his user page does not mention a ban. :confused:

a bit off topic, but just what do these folks intend to do with the spam messages?
Are they an attempt to find their way into others computers and why?

I find it very strange to spend one's time and engery and certainly advanced computer knowledge to send out destructive emails.

RobertWilliams is banned, Sorry he slipped by my mass banning. As Sean said this idiot is manually regerstering and reregerstering and then manually sending out pm spam. His 'hard work' is difficult to programically control, but his rewords are next to nil for his efforts (collecting returnable bottles would probably be more profitable use of his time). I apologize if the occassional pm spam is enough to drive you away. We will continue to do all we can.

Just curious: this means a user "RobertWilliams" (and all the other spammer nick names) is still in your data base but can not post any longer. Not that I miss this particular "RobertWilliams", but I could imagine some legit user wanting that nick. Wouldn't it be better to just delete that user account? It's not that he/she has contributed anything valuable that would warrant preserving anything ...
