Dear Hybrid lovers,

We at MAGNAchrom are seriously considering making the 6th issue of MAGNAchrom (the final issue of Volume 1) dedicated to medium and large format Hybrid Photography -- every type of workflow (ADD, ADA, DDA, etx), any technique, any input, any output. Much depends upon the reaction and feedback we get from people on this list (i.e. those who are likely to be the primary artists featured in the magazine)

There are several colums we would need:

4-square (four square format, rollfilm images with text and bio)
Centerfold (panoramic spread with text and bio)
Featured Artist (FrontCover/Interview/Toolkit/Portfolio)
Student Work (new feature of MC -- could be interesting to find some school where hybrid is encouraged, even emphasized)
Tips and Technique (one or more articles about technique)
Technology (one or more articles about hybrid technology)
Workshops (free listing of hybrid workshops anywhere in the world)

All of the above (except the workshop listing) will feature examples of your work.
What I need are proposals from you.
The due date for copy and photos for the 6th issue is July 1st 2007 -- hopefully that will be enough time to pull together a memorable "killer" issue of the magazine. Since MAGNAchrom is international in scope, we are encouraging submissions from all over the world.

NOTE: all submissions must be done with, be applicable to, or feature either medium or large format equipment. Sorry, no small-format, 35mm, or digicam only projects can be accepted at this time.

You can pmail me at editor "at" magnachrom "dot" com with comments, ideas, proposals, or anything else.

I look forward to hearing from you.

g'day Michael

an interesting call for submissions but possibly a little restrictive

why only medium and large format when your first sentence strongly states "... any technique, any input, any output."

for myself, and i assume many others, the beauty and attraction of "Hybrid Photography" is the ability to combine absolutely any input, any manipulation and any output

Thnx
Ray

MAGNAchrom is dedicated to medium and large format photography. We only cover topics that are related to that. In the future we "may" be forced to open that up. But for now, medium and large format is a restriction that keeps our editorial (and advertising) focus intact. FWIW, I feel there are simply too many other magazines out there that cover small format for us to get noticed. This fact also suggests that there are many many opportunities available for small format users to show their work. Unfortunately, there are not as many venues for "big" camera users. Hence MAGNAchrom. Hopefully you understand our position and recognize the need for us to be restrictive.

Cheers,

Micheal

Thanks for this , We are preparing a show for Silver Conference in Pasadena this spring and would love to send some samples of the workflow for producing digital fibre base prints that are the results of this show.
