Welcome, We hope this forum will attract those who are using digital rangefinders and give them the opportunity to express themselves, their art and their life’s lessons while looking through the frame lines of life. We also hope to encourage others to investigate rangefinder cameras, ask questions and consider using one. Film or Digital rangefinder camera images and discussions are welcome here even though the name of the group is digital rangefinders. v/r Lee G. Dayton Ohio
Welcome new member. what do you shoot with? Lee
Hi, I have a Lumix GF1 that I use as my main camera these days. I have Glaucoma and found that looking throught the viewfinder of my SLR's caused me to loose periferal vision for over an hour. So I bought this camera and I love it. I hope to post some pics soon. I am not good, but I don't care as I enjoy what I do and thats the only person I want to please. Having said that, I welcome comments and I am always happy to hear new methods of shooting/'developing' Tend to do landscapes as I can't afford models! lol. Alan
Hay all. I get out and shoot with a Leica M2 for film and a Leica M8.2 for digital. Of late I've been shooting out in the fold these winter months and some of the images I shot I am trying to upload to this forum. I also get out a bunch with some 6x6 stuff and I have a 4x5 that I just need to use more. Lee
Mighty quiet in here. Hope we see others join in soon Lee
Hi Have been looking round the forums and starting new here may be a good opportunity as the established groups can be a little intimidating. I am coming back to photography as a serious hobby after 30 odd years. Way back then I mainly used an OM2 and an Pen half frame. But the struggle for the legal tender and sons grabbed more of my time. I started out with a new Olympus Pen EP2 but just could not get on with the over complication although the quality was outstanding. I was really looking for a manual focus/exposure camera but not a DSLR. So after a lot of research I took the plunge with a Leica M9 and 21/28/50 and 75 lenses - a mix of Leica/Zeiss and Voigtlander. I had some experience of RFs before but found the M9 so easy to use - everything is just intuitive. The best thing I find is that you cannot get lazy as you can with zoom lenses - you have to move to frame and get closer to the subject. The DoF on the wide angles is amazing and setting the focus to hyperfocal means everything stays sharp. I still shoot too many frames but that is the great advantage of digital with 32Gb SD cards. I have used Elements with our family point and shoots but am now shooting in RAW and trying to get to grips with Lightroom. Most of my "serious" photography is observational - crowds at sporting events have been a good source of inspiration. Age helps as I am much more comfortable photographing strangers these days. I am drawn to black and white and find colour quite tough to get right. Lets hope we get a few more in this group and it prospers. Best Jeremy
I am not new to photography, have been shooting since '70s with M2 and 35 Summicron, 50 Summicron, and recently acquired a 90 Tele-Elmarit. Now I shoot with M9, Deardorff 8x10, 5x7, and Busch 4x5 and plan to scan negs. I switched to digital a couple of years back with Epson V750, Epson 2880, and Lightroom since the film/paper was getting too expensive and hard to get. I do mainly landscape and mainly "straight" prints.
Hello! I am a member on the APUG and fiddle with pinhole photography when I can, I own 2 range finders M6 and just recent M9 and happy to be able to use the lenses I bought for the M6 including one bought with the M9 so all in all lenses 28, 35, 90 and 135 a mix of new and older lenses. I hope to post some images from time to time and will welcome any constructive critique and looking forward to see lots of nice pics here.
