    Does paper grade matter?

    Hello,

Up until now I've been working with variable contrast papers when printing, but would like to try some graded papers. Does the paper grade really matter much with digital negatives? What grades would you suggest?

    Regards,
    Martin

    Martin,

Some graded silver gelatin papers can be too soft, such as the old AZO grade 2, requiring a very contrasty negative which may be difficult to make on an inkjet printer with colorized negatives only.

I would say that most grade 2 or 3 papers will work fine.
