    FYI; Refurbed Epson 4990 Deal

If anyone else has been waiting for a nice scanner at a nice price, I just ordered a refurbished Epson 4990 from the Epson Store for $309 USD!

    http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/c...s&oid=63063319

When checking out I found a discount code box, and after searching around for a while, I found and put in this code when I checked out, FS9F and got an additional 10% off which dropped the price to $278.99 USD shipped to my door. Not bad!

Here is a review of the scanner:

The 10% code dies on the 28th, so don't dally if you want to get it at this price. I have been waiting for over 3 years to get this dude...

They also have the 4990 PRO with the full Silverfast AI and other software package for $599 USD, so the 10% discount and free FedEx shipping, you could get it to your house (in the US anyway) for $540 USD.

Hope this is an appropriate posting for this forum; I assumed others would appreciate saving some money to buy film!

I bought this scanner, with the same deal a few months back. Epson has had a 10% off code running for a while now, perhaps over a year.

Epson also has a customer loyalty program to purchase new items, you only have to ask them over the phone for the link and code to enter the site.

Lastly, thanks for updating the members who may not have known.

    Regards,
    Martin

The 4990 deal is a good one but I would pass on that particular 4990 Pro deal. At that price for the Pro, I would just go ahead and buy a V700 at $470-ish online. You could put the extra $50 into upgrading the V700's Silverfast SE to Ai if you really wanted it. I am starting to wonder about the long-term value of Monaco since that company has gone through ownership changes.

Actually, I'm happier about Monaco than I was when it was independent. It is now part of X-Rite which is an excellent company. FWIW, much of the Monaco and X-Rite support doesn't come direct but comes from MAC (Mamiya America Corporation).
