Paper Recommendations
I'm doing a project where I will need a nice semi-matte paper available in 44" wide rolls. Familiar with Hahnemuhle Photo Rag 308 gsm which is a favorite, but am looking for something less flat. All suggestions appreciated.
Thanks,
Bill

Innova Fibaprint F Semi Matte
It is quite smooth. Prints with photo black ink. Has a high d max. I think I get 2.35 or higher using a 3800. It is less flat then photorag, which was a favorite of mine until I found this paper.
According to Shades of Paper web site it comes in 44" rolls.

Peter,
How does the surface hold up compared to Photorag? It's soooo easy to scuff photorag or burnish the blacks...

Kerik,
I can scratch and scuff fairly easily, but I have been able to work with it. I usually make pretty small prints, so that may make it easier for me.

I just orderd the sample pack from Redriver paper (www.redriverpaper.com) and I am pretty blown away at the selection. Maybe they will have something for you.

I've been using some double sided papers from Redriver and I'm also amazed at their selection. And good customer service too!

Thanks for the tip Derek and Rorye. I had not heard of Redriver and am interested in seeing all I can of what is available.

BTW - A good friend turned me on to the "Platinum Rag" manufactured by Premier Art and it was perfect for my needs on this project. Very much like an unferrotyped glossy silver gelatin stock. Fiber based with no brighteners added, it takes the ink well with a very nice dmax and it seems to be very durable.

I have been using Red River papers for years. We always use some of them at our workshops and pass out sample packs. Great products and great people.

Bill,
I recommend you look at the Hahnemuhle Photo Rag Pearl. It's got no OBA, and is very much like an air dried SG print, but with a little more texture.
I haven't seen the Premier products, but the Innova and Hahnemuhle products are something to look carefully at, especially if you don't want your digital prints looking too much like a platinum print.
