Would anyone be interested in another print exchange? Sign up date By the end of March and an exchange date by the end of April?

Sure. But could you narrow the parameters a bit?

I was thinking of anything that fit into the hybrid remit - digital print or alt print using digital negs?

So... ~8x10" print, any hybrid process? Five people per group?

    How 'bout it?

Not sure about restricting size - that should be down to individuals as wll as if they are matted or not!?

So, people could send out alternative process prints and get inkjet prints in return, and everyone's okay with that?

We did this a while back and split the exchanges into separate groups for inkjet and alt.
I think the groups were then split into groups of four people.
Can't remember the details, but I'm sure the thread is archived here.

I'd like to be part of an alt exchange.

In previous Hybrid Exchanges there was 1 hybrid-digital negative alt-process exchange with 4 people per group and 2 inkjet print only exchanges with roughly 10 to 12 people per group. The print types were never mixed. Personally I like both but would not care to mix the two. IOW, iwouldn't want to send out hand made prints with the expectation of receiving an inkjet print but receiving an inkjet print for an inkjet printis fine. And just to clarify, machine made prints not made on ones inkjet printer or an inkjet printer IS NOT acceptible in my view.

In the past participants in the inkjet exchange have submited prints originally captured on film and printed with an inkjet printer, though some participants also threw in an extra inkjet print where the original exposure was made with a digital camera.

And just to dot the i in Hybrid and guild the lily, Denise Ross in the last inkjet exchange submitted a beautiful inkjet print that originated as a in camera exposure, printed on hand coated gelatin silver paper, then handcolored, which was subsequently scanned and finally printed as an inkjet print. That's about as hybrid as it can get I think.

I think folks on the LF forum have an exhange going that allows for prints of any sort as long as a LF camera is used.

P.S. Carl I've not forgotten the print(s) that I owe you and I'm close to sending those out. PM me if you have questions.

I feel we should leave the options open of mixing the media type and size etc unless there is a consensus that they should be split - open to input!

I would agree that whatever the work used in the exchange should be that of the person doing the exchange. All of us are of differing standards and sometimes it is good to raise your bar a little with the effort of making images for other people and getting constructive feedback.

The definition of what should be a hybrid print is for John et al to define and outside of the scope of this exchange but we could decided what is acceptable within this exchange.

I also hear and have read peoples concerns re being involved and not getting prints back. The only way around this is for all the prints to be sent to one person and the prints are collated and returned that way. It puts a lot of work onto one person but I would do it and arrange in more detail later how it would happen in precise terms. Another option is to have slightly bigger groups and one person collate for that group. This could work if this exchange ends out splitting into inkjet and alternative prints as well.

Just my thoughts - open to others?

    All the best, Carl
