Hello from Susan
I guess it's time I say hello and introduce myself.
I'm primarily a painter and printmaker, but have a long history with
photography. My dad had a darkroom, and gave me my first camera
when I was about 15 (an old russian 35mm... totally manual). During
college (BFA '86), I worked at a camera store where I got to use a lot
of different cameras and formats and films... it was a great education.
During that time I started freelancing and doing custom darkroom work
as well. I've almost always had a "darkroom", even if I could pack it
all under a bed when it wasn't filling an extra bathroom.
These days I share a nice darkroom built by my husband (John Voss,
Jovo from APUG). The darkroom is right off my painting and printmaking
studio, so I have a perfect setup for making polymer gravures from
digital negatives. I'm also interested in tricolor gum prints. I'm in
the early learning stages, so hopefully I'll have some prints to share
soon!
I'm still shooting film, and I love the smell of the darkroom. I still
have my old Nikon, but these days I like medium format... mamiya
220, pentax 67... I leave the view camera stuff to John
I'm starting to think about digital... maybe something to use my
Nikon lenses with... we'll see.
I'm very happy that this site is up and running. As a painter, I've
always used whatever medium or mixture of mediums served my
purpose, so "hybrid" photography seems perfectly natural to me.
ta,
Susan

Hi! Susan
Welcome. I love that you see "hybrid" photography as a joyful stew of media, not just a euphemism for digital :-) I came into photography by way of painting, too. I look forward to seeing your art.
Happy Photography,
Denise
